Examples

3 years, AED 10,000 basic

Daily wage 333.33; 3 × 21 = 63 days; gratuity ≈ AED 21,000.

8 years, AED 12,000 basic

5 × 21 + 3 × 30 = 195 days × 400 = AED 78,000.

Frequently asked questions

Who is entitled to gratuity?

Full-time private-sector employees with at least one year of continuous service, whatever the reason the contract ends, except in cases the law excludes.

Which salary is used?

The last basic wage, without housing, transport or other allowances. The daily wage is usually the monthly basic wage divided by 30.

Is there a maximum?

Yes: the total gratuity cannot exceed two years of basic wage.

Does it apply in free zones?

Most free zones follow the federal rules; DIFC and ADGM have their own schemes. This calculator is an estimate, check your contract and MOHRE.
