Net 100.00 at 20 %: VAT 20.00, gross 120.00.
Gross 50.00 at 20 %: net 41.67, VAT 8.33 — the two always add up to the price you entered.
Divide the gross price by (1 + rate). For 120 at 20 %, 120 ÷ 1.20 = 100 net, and the VAT is 20. Choose “Remove VAT” and PRAXAO does it for you.
The rate applies to the net price. Taking 20 % of a gross price of 120 gives 24, which is wrong; the VAT included in 120 at 20 % is 20.
Rates depend on the country and on the product or service (standard, reduced, zero). PRAXAO does not assume a rate: enter the one that applies to your situation.
The tax is rounded once to the smallest unit of your currency (cents for euros and dollars), and the other amount is derived so that net + VAT always equals gross.
