Frequently asked questions

Are two discounts added together?

No, the second applies to the already reduced price. 20 % then 10 % equals 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 28 % in total.

How do I calculate a discount by hand?

Multiply the price by (1 − rate). For 15 % off 80: 80 × 0.85 = 68.

Can I use it for my own promotions?

Yes. To check that a promotion stays profitable, compare the discounted price with your cost using the profit margin calculator.
