Does it design the ceiling?
No. It counts what a set of dimensions requires. The frame design, the load a hanger carries and the fire, acoustic or humidity requirements come from the maker’s data and the engineer.
How are the hangers counted?
The ceiling area is divided by the area served by one hanger: the spacing of the furring (or of the main runners) times the spacing of the hangers along them, rounded up.
How is the grid length found?
For tiles of a by b, there is one line of profile every a in one direction and every b in the other: 1/a + 1/b metres of profile per square metre of ceiling.
