Column, footing and slab quantities

You already have the reinforcement layout from the structural engineer: enter the dimensions and the bars of the drawings and PRAXAO returns the concrete volume, the formwork area, the length and weight of bars and stirrups and the steel per cubic metre. It does not choose any section, bar or spacing.

mm

One spacing over the whole height: if the drawings tighten it near the ends, compute those zones separately.

cm
Advanced options

Take it from the engineer’s drawings. 0 = bars counted at the column height only.

cm

In bar diameters: an editable assumption, check it against the drawings.

ר

From the drawings (it depends on the exposure). It shortens every bar at both ends.

How to use it

  1. Choose columns, isolated footings or a slab.
  2. Enter the dimensions and the number of identical elements.
  3. Enter the bars, spacings, cover and lap length exactly as the drawings give them.
  4. Read the concrete, the formwork and the steel weight, and check them against the engineer’s bar schedule.

Examples

4 columns 25 × 25 cm, 3 m high, 4 bars Ø12 with a 50 cm lap, Ø6 stirrups every 15 cm

Concrete: 0.750 m³. Formwork: 12.00 m². Longitudinal bars: 56.00 m, 49.72 kg. Stirrups: 84 pieces, 73.92 m, 16.41 kg. Steel in total: 66.12 kg, i.e. 88.2 kg per m³ of concrete (offcuts at 0 %, cover 3 cm, hooks 10 diameters).

Frequently asked questions

Does it design the reinforcement?

No. It counts a reinforcement layout you already have. Sections, bar diameters, spacings, cover and lap lengths come from the structural engineer’s drawings; the tool never proposes them.

Why are the lap, the hook and the cover editable?

They depend on the project and the exposure. The values shown are only starting points. With a lap of 0 the bars are counted at the element height only, so the steel is a minimum, and the tool says so.

What is not counted?

Starter bars from footings, ties, spacers, extra bars at openings, bar zones that differ along a beam, and the second layer of a slab (run the tool once per layer). The engineer’s bar schedule takes precedence over this estimate.
